DESIGNING THE NEXT GENERATION

A Glimpse Into the Future

Throughout history, humans have been pushing the limits of engineering. By improving upon the predecessor, we work to make the next best thing. However, we most often only see the finalized product. We do not see the process that goes into improving upon the past, much less get the opportunity to submit input.

In May, Norlift had the unique opportunity to participate in this process. The next generation of UniCarriers forklifts are in the design phase, and the first step is to determine what works well and what needs to change. To assist in this process, Norlift hosted a team of engineers from Tokyo, Japan and Marengo, IL. The engineers are members of the UniCarriers team designing the next generation of internal combustion forklifts. This upcoming product hails from a long line of Nissan heritage.

The image above shows a fleet of UniCarriers Forklifts at Columbia Distributing in Portland, OR. The engineering team met with Columbia's operators to hear their likes and dislikes with the current UniCarriers generation. Portland was the engineers' first stop in a multi city trip to gather operator feedback. While the product is far from production, Norlift and Columbia Distributing can proudly say that we were able to contribute to the design process. We hope to help UniCarriers learn from the past and work even better in the future.

Many thanks to Columbia Distributing for taking the time to assist the UniCarriers and Norlift teams.
